Leah Rees, 24, is
one of the many part owners at The Alternative Library in downtown Bellingham. The Alternative library is a cooperative that not only loans out books to people, but also promotes creativity
and collaboration in the art community. Tuesday afternoon, the place is empty but a few of the
owners are lounging around talking about future art shows they want to host. Leah
says her favorite part of the library is all of the art collaborations that
happen. “Being in this environment has gotten me out of my year and a half
painting break,” Leah says, “It’s awesome using others creativity to inspire
your own creativity.”
